Gulf Bank Launches Future Female Leaders Series to Empower Women and Promote Inclusive Workplaces Across Kuwait

  • Salma Al-Hajjaj: Mrs. Salma Al-Hajjaj: We are committed to supporting initiatives that enhance women’s professional and financial capabilities.

As part of its ongoing commitment to women's empowerment and the promotion of inclusive workplaces, Gulf Bank, one of the steering committee members of the Kuwait Women's Economic Empowerment Platform (KWEEP), is proud to announce its support for the launch of the pioneering new initiative, the Future Female Leaders Series. The initiative aims to build and empower a new generation of female leaders across various sectors in Kuwait.

The first edition of the series took place on Thursday, 22 May 2025, at Al-Hamra Tower, bringing together many of Gulf Bank's female employees and leaders. The event included two insightful workshops: one focused on strategic career planning and personal growth, and the other explored key principles of financial independence and building long-term wealth.

Commenting on the occasion, Mrs. Salma Al-Hajjaj, Chief Human Resources Officer at Gulf Bank, stated: “At Gulf Bank, we are dedicated to supporting initiatives that enhance women’s professional and financial capabilities. The Future Female Leaders Series marks a strategic step forward in enabling Kuwaiti women to access leadership positions across various fields.”

She added: “What makes this series unique is its flexible and independent training opportunities, including workshops and panel discussions led by international experts, allowing participants to tailor their involvement based on their interests and schedules, without the need for long-term commitments.”

Mrs. Al-Hajjaj also highlighted Gulf Bank's pride in being a founding partner of KWEEP, noting: “We strongly believe that collective action is essential to building a thriving workplace that champions women's empowerment and promotes diversity and inclusion. KWEEP plays a crucial role in providing support, mentorship, and a platform where ambition is met with real opportunity for every working woman.”

Over the past decade, Gulf Bank has significantly increased the representation of women in leadership positions – from 10% to 30%. Today, women make up 42% of the Bank's total workforce. Gulf Bank is also proud to be the first bank in Kuwait to eliminate all forms of gender-based discrimination among its employees, ensuring complete equality in employment benefits. Additionally, it was among the first institutions in Kuwait to sign the United Nations Women's Empowerment Principles.

Gulf Bank has been honored with numerous prestigious awards recognizing its commitment to sustainability, diversity, and inclusion, presented by MEED, Euromoney, and the Bahrain CSR Society. These recognitions highlight the Bank’s commitment to empowering women, supporting sustainable growth, and fostering a workplace built on inclusivity and equal opportunity for all.
