Gulf Bank Awards the Most Innovative and Sustainable Graduation Projects
Gulf Bank participates in the Australian University Alumni Exhibition

Gulf Bank concluded its platinum sponsorship of the Graduation Projects Exhibition for students at the College of Engineering at the Australian University, as part of its continuous support for the youth, and its endeavors to empower and encourage them to innovate and consolidate the concepts of sustainability in society.
Gulf Bank's Innovation team, led by the Head of Digital Transformation and Innovation, Mai AlOwaish, evaluated 30 projects, submitted by 137 students from the College of Engineering at the Australian University.
At the end of the evaluation process, four graduation projects were awarded as the most innovative and sustainable projects by the Innovation team. The four winning projects are:
- Contaminated soil treatment project (Civil Engineering)
- Converting waste into bioenergy (Petroleum Engineering)
- Using natural fibers to improve the structural performance of concrete (Mechanical Engineering)
- Smart waste management (Electrical Engineering)
On this occasion, General Manager of Human Resources at Gulf Bank, Salma Al-Hajjaj, said: "Our sponsorship of the exhibition stems from the relentless efforts made by Gulf Bank to empower the youth and motivate them to innovate. The youth are the true wealth that the national economy, and the private sector, depend on for growth and development."
She added: "We are keen to support and invest in young talents and urge them to innovate and contribute effectively towards establishing sustainability standards in Kuwait. By stimulating and encouraging innovative ideas that have a positive impact on the environment, we are able to solve problems faced in society. Through supporting events or giving outstanding young people promising opportunities to join Gulf Bank’s family, we can obtain greater sponsorship of their talents and help them develop and advance.”
Al-Hajjaj also pointed that Gulf Bank plays a vital role in developing young talent and encouraging them to innovate to become future leaders; whether inside or outside the bank, in line with Gulf Bank's 2025 strategy and Kuwait's 2035 vision.
Head of the Digital Transformation and Innovation Unit at Gulf Bank, Mai AlOwaish, said: "We were very pleased with the outstanding level of graduates from various departments, which was evident in the quality of the graduation projects that were submitted."
AlOwaish further mentioned that throughout the exhibition, Gulf Bank was keen to interview graduates to help them think innovatively and utilize their ideas and projects to positively impact sustainability in Kuwait on a social, economic, and environmental level.
Based on Gulf Bank’s objectives to provide a distinguished model in supporting innovation and sustainability, it made them a key criterion in selecting the winning projects at the exhibition – stressing on the notion that encouraging innovation creates a better future for Kuwait.
