Gulf Bank Honors Breast Cancer Awareness Month with Offers & Events Targeting Women’s Health

Stemming from its keenness to support women, and as part of its social sustainability program

  • Salma Al-Hajjaj: Gulf Bank actively participated in a series of awareness-raising initiatives to facilitate the early detection of breast cancer.

Stemming from its keenness to support women, and as part of its social sustainability program, Gulf Bank is recapping its activities in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month — from awareness events to multiple offers targeting women’s health.

The Bank contracted multiple agreements with hospitals and partners in the medical sector to provide discounts and exclusive offers targeting women. The offers aim to facilitate check-ups and provide women with the opportunity to undergo breast cancer-related examinations for the early detection of breast cancer.

Gulf Bank also organized a “Walkathon” competition which witnessed the participation of Bank employees and members of the general public in Al-Shaheed Park. The Walkathon event also included an informational session on breast cancer. Awareness brochures were also distributed to participants with the aim of increasing awareness of the risks of breast cancer and the importance of regular screening and early detection. Notably, early detection helps to reduce breast cancer-related deaths by at least 40%.

The informational session reported that 2.3 million women around the world were diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020, making up 40% of all cancer diagnoses. Kuwait occupies the 27th place globally in the list of countries most affected by breast cancer, according to data from the World Health Organization.

On this occasion, Gulf Bank's General Manager of Human Resources, Salma Al-Hajjaj, said, "Gulf Bank is keen to actively participate in a series of awareness-raising initiatives and events to raise breast cancer awareness annually. We encourage women to undergo regular screenings to facilitate the early detection of breast cancer.”

Al-Hajjaj noted that early detection of breast cancer significantly reduces mortality rates, calling on Gulf Bank customers to take advantage of the multiple offers and discounts that the Bank has made available for women this month. Al-Hajjaj also encouraged other women to conduct screenings as early as possible to facilitate early detection.

She stated that Gulf Bank places public health at the forefront of its priorities and aims to consolidate the principles of social sustainability through continuous sustainability programs targeting society, the economy, and the environment.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign observed in countries across the world that highlights the importance of breast cancer awareness, education and research. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women worldwide, and early detection plays a key role in facilitating recovery.
