Gulf Bank Renews its Support for the Diraya Campaign

Gulf Bank kicks off its participation in Diraya campaign’s second year, as part of its commitment to social responsibility

Kuwait, 23 February 2022: Gulf Bank affirmed that it will continue to spearhead various efforts in support of the Diraya campaign in its second year. Initiated by the Central Bank of Kuwait and the Kuwait Banking Association, the Diraya campaign is an awareness campaign that aims to spread financial literacy in society, raise awareness of the role of the banking sector, and promote the various services that banks offer to their customers.

 

Gulf Bank’s CEO, Tony Daher, said that Gulf Bank intends to contribute to more activities and events that support the achievement of the campaign's goals as part of the Bank’s commitment to social responsibility and its keenness to enhance financial literacy in society. He noted that these efforts are part of an ongoing initiative to continue the positive traction achieved by the campaign last year.

 

He praised the efforts of the Central Bank of Kuwait and the Kuwait Banking Association in strengthening the social responsibility role of the Kuwaiti banking sector, and educating customers about their banking rights, noting that both parties played major roles in providing oversight and raising awareness.

 

He pointed to the active role played by Gulf Bank during the first year of the campaign. From the start of the campaign, Gulf Bank has been publishing awareness videos, press releases and introductory materials across all of the Bank's social media channels, as well as through various media outlets including newspapers, radio and television.

 

He pointed out that the Central Bank of Kuwait awarded Gulf Bank the “Distinguished Bank Award'' last year, in recognition of its role in supporting the Diraya campaign. The CBK had expressed its gratitude to the Gulf Bank team, who collectively spared no effort to achieve the campaign's goals.

 

Daher also commented that last year’s campaign focused on several topics, including the borrowing process, bank cards, cybersecurity, security tips, and services for customers with special needs. The campaign also aims to clarify the mechanisms for raising official complaints in an effort to protect customers’ rights, and also aims to highlight the banking sector's tasks and roles in stimulating and developing the economy.

 

He noted that the Bank will continue to raise awareness on new topics targeted by the campaign in its second year. These topics include the risks of fraud and cybercrime (especially through email, text messages, and phone calls); by disclosing any personal information through unsecured means, customers may unknowingly be placing their confidential banking data (including their account number, password and OTP number) at risk of theft.
