Gulf Bank Appoints Mai Alowaish as Head of Digital Transformation & Innovation Unit

As part of the Bank’s ongoing efforts to consolidate its position as the leading Bank of the Future

Kuwait, 9 January 2022: Gulf Bank has obtained the approval of the Central Bank of Kuwait to appoint Mrs. Mai Bader Alowaish as Head of the Digital Transformation & Innovation Unit at Gulf Bank.

Gulf Bank’s latest appointment comes within the framework of the Bank’s ongoing efforts to consolidate its leadership position in the local market as the Bank of the Future, and its keenness to successfully implement its 2025 strategy, in which digital transformation is an essential element. Gulf Bank’s announcement also comes as part of the Bank’s commitment to female empowerment, as stipulated in the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and as part of the Bank’s efforts to achieve sustainability at the societal, economic and environmental levels.

Alowaish is an expert in the field of digital strategy, with more than 18 years worth of practical experience in information technology and data analysis in the banking and e-commerce sectors. Alowaish has also had international work experience, having worked for 10 years in the United States with Google partners, offering consultation services on Google’s data and analytics solutions.

Alowaish holds a master’s degree in information systems from Northwestern University, which she graduated from in 2016, and a bachelor’s degree in information systems engineering from Oregon State University, which she graduated from in 2003. She is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the international Digital Analytics Association (DAA), and also holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute. Alowaish also holds a Certified Web Analyst (CWA) certification, a prestigious certificate with no more than 200 members worldwide.

On her part, Alowaish expressed her joy at having gained the confidence of both Gulf Bank’s Board of Directors and the Central Bank of Kuwait in her new appointment as Head of the Digital Transformation & Innovation Unit at Gulf Bank. The unit is responsible for implementing Gulf Bank’s digital transformation strategy and providing innovative solutions and a distinctive banking experience for customers through services characterized by speed, ease and innovation.
