Gulf Bank's Chief Data Officer is Selected as part of the Digital Analytics Association's DAA Board of Directors

Mai Alowaish was selected to be on the DAA’s Board of Directors, along with six other industry leaders from around the world

 

Kuwait, 17 May 2021: Gulf Bank has announced that Mai Alowaish, Gulf Bank’s Chief Data Officer, has been selected as part of the Board of Directors of the Digital Analytics Association (DAA), an international association dedicated to advancing the use of data and influencing legislation that affects data practices.

 

Alowaish was selected to serve as part of the upcoming term of the Board of Directors of the DAA, along with six other industry leaders from around the world, who were recognized for their leadership, business acumen, and knowledge of the data and analytics practice. The DAA is a professional association dedicated to advancing the use of data worldwide with the aim of understanding and improving the analytics industry through best practices and professional development. The association is based in the US, with international chapters in Germany and Canada.

 

Alowaish is an active member and a mentor at the DAA, having contributed multiple thought leadership pieces on data models and mobile analytics. As part of her responsibilities at the DAA, Alowaish has led multiple task forces, including the DAA’s “Women in Analytics” community, and spearheaded the “Women In Tech Maturity Model” project, a model that was developed to assist tech organizations in measuring their progress in terms of supporting women in tech, and indicating what steps organization can take to advance their efforts.

 

On this occasion, Gulf Bank’s Chief Data Officer, Mai Alowaish, said, “I am delighted to be selected as a Board of Directors member of an international data and digital analytics association as prestigious as the Digital Analytics Association. Alowaish joined Gulf Bank in January 2021 as Chief Data Officer, leading the data and analytics practice in Gulf Bank and overseeing the strategy and implementation of data science to facilitate the Bank’s digital transformation. As part of her role, Alowaish is also responsible for executing Gulf Bank’s digital initiatives and accelerating innovation with the purpose of creating value for Gulf Bank’s customers. Alowaish brings two decades of experience in the e-commerce and analytics field, along with international work experience, having worked for 10 years in the United States with Google partners, offering consultation services on Google’s data and analytics solutions.

 

Alowaish is a published author, speaker, and winner of multiple awards. As the recipient of the DAA’s President’s Award, Alowaish was recognized for her vital role and impact on multiple initiatives at the DAA. Her thought pieces on analytics models were featured in the “Applied Marketing Analytics” journal and published in the “Analytics Interpreted” book. Alowaish has also spoken at the “Women in Analytics” conference in Ohio, USA in 2019; the “Analytics One” Conference in Chicago, USA in 2020; both Google Summits of 2019 and 2020 in California, USA; and most recently at the Middle East Banking AI & Analytics Summit in 2021.
