Kuwait 1 November 2018: Gulf Bank is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Waleed Al Hassawi as the new General Manager of Information Technology (IT).

Dr Al Hassawi has over 25 years of experience, with an extensive focus on banking and fintech companies. Prior to joining Gulf Bank, Dr Al Hassawi held the position of General Manager of Information Technology Group at Boubyan Bank. During his time at Boubyan Bank, Dr Al Hasswi was responsible for launching and implementing internet and mobile banking services, electronic cash withdrawal, service-oriented architecture and business process management. Other notable achievements include the design, development and launch of privately-owned start-up, Elbooq Mobile Payment.

Previously, Dr Al Hassawi also held the role of AGM Information Technology Sector at Kuwait Finance House, where he played a central role in establishing the organization’s internet and mobile banking facilities as well as developing the core banking replacement.

Dr Al Hassawi holds a PhD in Computing Engineering from Loughborough University, Leicester, UK and a Master of Science in Computing Engineering from Lehigh University, Pennsylvania, USA. He also received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic University, Massachusetts, USA.
