Kuwait 13 November 2018: With just days to go until the ‘Gulf Bank 642 Marathon’, Gulf Bank along with Pro-Vision Sport Management held a press conference to announce the launch of Kuwait’s most exciting sporting event. The ‘Gulf Bank 642 Marathon’ will take place at 7am, Saturday, 17 November at Souq Sharq.

Hosted and attended by Gulf Bank senior leadership team, and leadership from partner Pro-Vision Sport Management. The conference saw speakers from Marathon sponsors’ Gulf Bank, Pro-Vision, Kuwait Airways, Public Authority of Sports, and the Kuwait Red Crescent Society was also represented at the event.

Each year the Marathon partners with a leading group to raise awareness of an important issue. This year, Gulf Bank Marathon 642 has partnered with Kuwait Red Crescent Society to bring medical aid to those who are unable to afford medical treatment. All donations made will go towards the provision of medical devices such as, pacemakers, cochlear devices, hearing aids, electric wheelchairs and stents.

Mr. Ahmad Al Amir, Assistant General Manager for External Communications, Gulf Bank, said, “With just days to go before the marathon, we can feel the excitement building. We expect this year’s event to be an incredible success, welcoming runners from all walks of life. This year’s event is in sponsorship of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society and their initiatives, and we are proud to be partnered with and supported by both private and public institutions in support of our mission to spread their message.”

Set to take place on November 17th, 2018, the marathon, which serves as a qualifying race for international marathons, has four categories which are open to runners of all abilities. From the 5K Family Fun Walk/Run and the 10K Souq Run to the more advanced 21K Half Marathon and Kuwait’s only 42K Full Marathon. The route starts and ends at Souq Sharq, with runners making their way along the Gulf Road, past Kuwaiti landmarks such as Souk Al Mubarakiya, Al Seif Palace and Kuwait Towers.
