Kuwait 21 October 2018: Kuwait’s official carrier, Kuwait Airways, has announced its gold sponsorship of the Fourth Annual Gulf Bank 642 Marathon. This is the first time Kuwait Airways has sponsored the marathon, which has become a firm fixture on Kuwait’s sporting calendar. After the unprecedented success of 2017, which saw 6,000 attendees representing over 130 nationalities participate, Kuwait Airways and Gulf Bank are inviting the public to participate in this year’s ‘642 Marathon’ on November 17th, 2018.

Mr. Ahmad Al Amir, Assistant General Manager for External Communications, Gulf Bank, said of the partnership: “We are excited to have Kuwait Airways on board for what will be another successful marathon. The marathon is one of our event calendar highlights, and we are looking forward to bringing the community together, partnering in spreading awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle.”

The marathon takes place on November 17th, 2018 and serves as a qualifying race for international marathon. It has four categories open to runners of all ages and abilities, ranging from the 5K Family Fun Walk/Run and the 10K Souq Run to the more advanced 21K Half Marathon and Kuwait’s only 42K Full Marathon. The route starts and ends at Souq Sharq, with runners making their way along the Gulf Road and past Kuwaiti landmarks such as Souk Al Mubarakiya, Al Seif Palace and Kuwait Towers.

Gulf Bank Marathon 642 has partnered with Kuwait Red Crescent Society to bring medical aid to those who are unable to afford medical treatment. All donations made will go towards the provision of medical devices such as, pacemakers, cochlear devices, hearing aids, electric wheelchairs and stents. Run for those who can’t at the 2018 Gulf Bank Marathon 642 to raise much-needed funds for those suffering from chronic illness or disabilities.
