Gulf Bank Continues to Support a Healthy Lifestyle by Testing Employees for Diabetes

Kuwait 30 October 2018: Gulf Bank’s head office played host to the Dasman Diabetes Institute, on Thursday 25th October, providing employees with free diabetes checks. Raising awareness of the dangers of diabetes, as well as the importance of early detection.

With the Gulf Bank 642 Marathon approaching on November 17th, Gulf Bank continues to support employees by offering free blood tests to check for blood glucose and cholesterol levels. The check-up also included blood pressure, height and weight measurements. The test’s aim was to raise awareness on the growing diabetes issue in Kuwait and stress the importance of regular checks.

Speaking on the event, Mr. Ahmad Al Amir, Assistant General Manager for External Communications, Gulf Bank, said: “The health and wellbeing of our Gulf Bank family is essential to us, especially as they prepare for the Gulf Bank 642 Marathon. Encouraging the community to live a healthy and active lifestyle is also an important pillar of our corporate social responsibility strategy. Through our partnership with Dasman Diabetes Institute, we also raised awareness of the larger issue of diabetes. We, at Gulf Bank, thank the institute for taking the time to educate our employees in the importance of regular screenings, as well as the role fitness and exercise play in combatting this issue.”

Tarek Aleryan, Senior Public Relations and Media Manager at Dasman Diabetes Institute, which was founded by Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences said of the event: “It is the Institute’s mission to promote health awareness in general and address the diabetes epidemic in Kuwait. We are delighted to be working with Gulf Bank to raise awareness of diabetes, through education, prevention and self-care.”

In addition to taking part in this event, Dasman Diabetes Institute are also supporters of next month’s Gulf Bank 642 Marathon, taking place 17 November 2018.
