PINK…Because We Care, the 3rd Annual Breast Cancer

Gulf Bank is organizing its annual Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign, "PINK…Because We Care" during the month of October to mark the worldwide Breast Cancer Awareness month. The campaign aims at raising awareness about the seriousness of breast cancer, the importance of testing and the benefits of early detection.

In order to encourage women to seek testing, Gulf Bank is partnering with Royale Hayat Hospital to offer special discounts on breast cancer related tests for its customers. This discounted offer is available to all Gulf Bank female customers using any of the Bank's cards. The pricing for a mammogram is only 30KD instead of 45KD; should the woman need further testing, ultrasound tests are offered at the reduced rate of 15KD. This offer is valid until 31 October 2015.

Gulf Bank will be a gold sponsor, for the third year, of the annual breast cancer awareness walkathon "Pink Cause" that is organized by Fatma Clinic. This walkathon supports those who have survived breast cancer, as well as those who have lost family or friends to the disease. The walkathon will take place on Friday, 24 October and will start next to the Scientific Center in Salmiya. Tickets will be available in the following locations: American University of Kuwait (AUK) on its campus in Salmiya; Gulf University of Science and Technology (GUST) on its campus in Mubarak Al Abdullah- West Mishref; Al Hamra Mall in Sharq; and Fatma Clinic in Salmiya. All proceeds and funds raised at the event will be donated to Al-Sidra Association for Psychological Care of Cancer Patients and their Families.

The Bank is also happy to be the gold sponsor for the awareness event, "Fight Like A Girl" on Monday, 26 October at the Regency Hotel. This event is dedicated to raising awareness about the disease and is being held under the patronage of the US Embassy in Kuwait in partnership with the American Women's League. Several renowned Kuwaiti doctors will be speaking during the event on issues related to the detection, treatment, and prevention of breast cancer.

The Bank will align with the 'Wear it Pink' initiative, an international charity that encourages thousands of people around the world to join the cause with a collective of scientists, supporters, and people affected by breast cancer. 'Wear it Pink' aims to prevent breast cancer, the early detection of the disease and stopping the disease from taking lives by the year 2050.

Every year, 'Wear it Pink' raises funds by asking people in schools, workplaces, homes and social venues to wear something pink and to make a donation. The donated money goes to fund world-class research, by the brightest scientific minds. Gulf Bank staff in all 58 branches and the Head Office will wear a pink item to work to support the campaign in its third consecutive year.

Additionally, throughout the month, Gulf Bank's social media channels will be supporting the awareness campaigns by posting useful information and medical tips to increase education and awareness about breast cancer. These campaigns are part of Gulf Bank's Corporate Social Responsibility strategy, as the Bancommitted to raising awareness of various health issues.
