Gulf Bank holds a Leadership Development Program for its Management and Senior Executives

Kuwait, 5 June 2013: Gulf Bank's new Chairman Omar Alghanim teamed up with Professor Srikant Datar of Harvard Business School to host a leadership development program for Gulf Bank's experienced executives in Kuwait.  The program entitled 'Leadership, Vision and Strategy: Challenges of Implementation and Execution' focused on how successful companies translate vision and strategy into action. This program was supported by Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences.

During the program, Professor Srikant Datar shared concepts and leading edge insights that are an integral part of successful implementation of any strategy. He also engaged the group in rich discussions throughout the program with examples from some of the world's leading companies.

Speaking at the program, Gulf Bank's Chairman, Mr. Omar Alghanim said: "The challenges of making change, improving competitiveness and enhancing customer service are the top priorities for the Bank. We are committed to being innovative and increasingly customer centric".

At the conclusion of the program, Mr. Michael Accad, Gulf Bank's Chief Executive Officer said: "We were very pleased to have the opportunity to benefit from Professor Datar of Harvard Business School's world class guidance.   Over the last two days, Professor Datar and his team have provided us with a wealth of information and practical assistance which will be invaluable in helping us to efficiently implement our business strategies at Gulf Bank.  We continuously seek improvements to the way we conduct our business, and I am confident that this intensive program will help us further raise the performance bar."

Mr. Omar Alghanim was pleased with the level of active participation of the executives in the workshop and reiterated the importance of working together to become better managers and leaders.

Srikant Datar is a professor at Arthur Lowes Dickinson School at Harvard University.  A graduate with distinction from the University of Bombay, he received gold medals upon graduation from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India.  He is a chartered accountant and holds two masters degrees and a Ph.D. from Stanford University.
