Kuwait, September 22, 2011: Gulf Bank concluded its Blood Donation Day at the Mubarak Al Kabeer branch in the Bank's Head Office on Monday, 19th September, 2011. The one day event was open to all customers, staff and walk-in visitors.  The Central Blood Bank set up a specially equipped medical clinic in the branch from 9:00am through to 1:00pm.

This one day event comes within the framework of a number of initiatives adopted by Gulf Bank in blood donation and the need to increase the storage of blood at the Central Blood Bank, who recently suffered from a shortage of certain categories of blood that could threaten the lives of many patients. Building on this initiative, Gulf Bank recently sponsored the "Paint Kuwait Red" campaign which was organized by "Club 25 Kuwait" to celebrate World Blood Donor Day that was inaugurated by the Minister of Health, Dr. Hilal Al-Sayer on June 16, and aimed at raising awareness of the importance of donating blood and creating a new generation of blood donors who are committed to donating blood at least 25 times throughout their lives. The campaign was launched at the Avenues Mall to promote awareness of the importance of blood donation and volunteer work.

The Blood Donation Day is also part of a series of blood donation campaigns which were previously organized by Gulf Bank including the "Do Your Part"Donate" campaign which was the first of its kind, and ran throughout 2009 covering the majority of the Bank's branches thus allowing everyone the opportunity to help others by donating blood.  Gulf Bank was officially the top blood donor within the public and private sector in the State of Kuwait during that year.

Blood donation is a gesture which stems from the sense of duty towards the community. The Bank recognizes the importance of blood donation and praises all donors for their dedication to helping others.  Gulf Bank has always supported such initiatives which contribute to the development of the Society and its institutions and includes these initiatives in the Bank's Corporate Social Responsibility program which in line with the needs of the Kuwaiti society.
