Kuwait: 16 June 2011 " Gulf Bank, continues to connect with the society, and announced today the Banks contribution as the Golden Sponsor to the "Paint Kuwait Red" campaign, which is organized by Club 25 Kuwait, to celebrate the World Blood Donor's Day. The campaign will officially be inaugurated by Dr. Hilal Al-Sayer, Minister of Health, on Thursday, 16th June 2011, near Kuwait Towers.

The "Paint Kuwait Red" campaign will include several events that aim to increase awareness about the importance of blood donation.  These events include: the release of about 300 balloons, lighting of Kuwait Towers, the Avenues, and Green Island, in red, in addition to a stand to be opened by the Club for blood donation at the Avenues, starting from the 18th June 2011.

The campaign is organized by Club 25 Kuwait, part of a 10-year old global initiative that originated in Africa, specifically in Zimbabwe, to encourage youth to live healthy life-styles and play an active role as blood donors. The concept is to encourage them to donate blood at least 25 times throughout their life.  Club 25 Kuwait initiative is the 61st worldwide and first of its kind in the Middle East.

"Paint Kuwait Red" aims at increasing awareness of the importance of blood donation, which may contribute to saving lives. The need for blood donation is consistently increasing and an ongoing effort needs to be in place to encourage blood donation and support from the community.  Furthermore, the campaign increases awareness of voluntary work and its positive impact on the society, as well as individuals.

Gulf Bank is a firm supporter of blood donation campaigns. In 2009, the Bank, in collaboration with Kuwait Central Blood Bank (KCBB) organized the first blood donation campaign of its kind in Kuwait, with the slogan "Do Your Part"Donate." The campaign lasted for almost one year in 2009, covering most of the Bank's branches, giving everyone the opportunity to donate blood.
